For me personally, the world of Warcraft TCG represents the pinnacle of intellectual competition. Even though I have not stepped onto the field of traditional organized sports in several many years, Trading Card games (and my like of Wow gold Fantasy Football) have always been a healthy outlet for my aggressive spirit, as i am sure it is for several of you. When you work for a large corporation, chances are you have done various psychological surveys like Myers-Briggs. Several times I did the strength Finder study and each time Competition comes out as my number one strength. The description is:
Opposition is rooted in comparison. When you look at the earth, you are instinctively aware of other peoples performance. Their performance is the ultimate yardstick. No matter how tricky you tried, no matter how worthy your intentions, when you reached your goal but did not outperform your peers, the achievement feels hollow. Like all competitors, you need other people. You need to compare. Should you can compare, you can compete, and when you can compete, you can win. And when you win, there is no feeling quite like it. You like measurement because it facilitates comparisons. You like other competitors because they invigorate you. You like contests because they must produce a winner. You particularly like contests where you know you have the inside track to be the winner. Although that you are gracious to your fellow competitors and even stoic in defeat, you dont compete for the fun of competing. You compete to win. Over time you will come to avoid contests where winning seems unlikely.
I challenge any of you to tell me this does not describe at least some part of your inner being and reason for participating in in tournaments!
The ever changing nature on the game keeps the competitiveness fresh and exciting each time. This is what attracts me to the world of Warcraft TCG as a aggressive outlet as opposed to several other intellectual ventures like Chess or other board/computer games. As each new expansion is printed, the format changes and forces you to reconsider old strategies and evaluate new ones. This does not change if you perform cards as part of your dining room or at a tournament, but tournament enjoy provides the means of expressing this spirited challenge to my spirit. It is this constant need to find a winner and loser in every venture that drives me towards the inevitable venture that is tournament TCGs.
I have been venturing to TCG tournaments of some type for close to twenty years, whether it was local comic shops (not card Wow gold shops, they did not even exist as of yet) all the way up to cash tournaments, all before there was really a solid organized engage in tournament scene. When i started playing World of Warcraft, the means of taking part in competitively on a regular basis was established immediately, with Regional occasions leading the way to Nationals (now Continentals) and eventually the world Championships, the pinnacle of competitive perform for the year.
